Sophie wears many different hats simultaneously: classically-trained musician, food-lover, restaurant connoisseur, avid reader and writer, podcast junkie, free-form movement enthusiast, and impassioned yogi-dancer-hiker-musician. Upon moving to Portland from Houston, Texas in July 2011, she arrived ready to learn about herself and this beautiful city. And, as a wildly enthusiastic student of how to best nourish oneself, she has explored many different modalities of healing -- namely, the mediums of movement, physical therapies, nutrition, and the arts.

While living in Houston, Sophie was involved in the restaurant and music scene, graduating with a degree from Rice University (with a degree in Classical Piano Performance with the fantastic Jon Kimura Parker, and classes in fields ranging from Natural Sciences to Technology to Sociology and Anthropology) in 2009. Sophie's involvement with food began as a waitress, hostess, and cooking class assistant, but she quickly progressed to taking on many management roles, and then being hired by highly-lauded chef Anita Jaisinghani to craft her newest venture, Pondicheri. Pondicheri has gone on to be nominated for a James Beard Award, and is the newest realized fixture in Jaisinghani's vision of fantastically delicious, innovative, modern Indian food.

In addition to working as manager of Pondicheri, Sophie worked as an independently-employed pianist (and cellist!) for several schools and organizations in Houston, continuing to share her deep passion and love for music with others. She also practiced yoga daily, and worked at the Houston Farmer's Market to strengthen the connective tissue between farmers, artisans, and the general public.

While living in Portland, Sophie has been involved in various part-time jobs and educational experiences (nannying for a sweet family, taking classes at PCC, and volunteering to prepare meals for low-income and homeless families), as well as playing joyfully in yoga and free-form dance. She has worked with wise healers and teachers in realms such as thai massage, yoga therapy, EMDR, "Shen" energy healing, cranial-sacral alignment, nutrition (having completed a Sports Nutrition certification), mindful eating, psycho-somatic expression, naturopathy, food sensitivities & diet, addiction healing, dance and music therapy, and much more. Having acquired such a valuable skill-set, Sophie is ready to guide Vibrant Studios to growth and blossoming. She envisions yoga classes rapidly filling, workshops becoming more numerous and varied, and an outstanding kitchen of life-giving food.

Sophie welcomes you to play, learn, and grow with her at Vibrant Studios!
